29th Sunday in Ordinary Time

In the Gospel Reading the Pharisees are trying to trap Jesus into saying something that can be construed as sedition against the Romans. “Shall we give tribute to the Romans,” they ask Jesus. Jesus’ answer calls attention to the fact that the common currency of the time was Roman and so had Caesar’s image stamped on it. So, what is Caesar’s give to Caesar, for us we are made in the image and likeness of God and our government should always protect that dignity we are given by God. Government should protect all life, as abortion is always wrong as it takes an innocent life. Our freedom, to worship should always be protected as well. We all need to do our part in voicing our beliefs and speak the truth and witness to the world the dignity God has given us!
